Post  Admin on Sun Aug 10, 2008 10:54 am

Vitamin C Deficiency:

Like us Humans, Guinea Pigs need a daily intake on Vitamin C.
Guinea Pigs Who do not get this may die of Scurvy.
It's up to you to give them the Vitamin C that they need in order to live a happy & Healthy life, which is what every Guinea Pig owner should aim for.

Signs Of Vitamin C Deficiency:

-Diarrhea,
-Rough Fur,
-Tenderness to touch,
-Eye Dischange,
-Nose Discharge,
-Weakness, Not wanting to move

Guinea Pigs can recover from Scurvy as long as you provide them with Vitamin C.

Fresh fruit, Veg, Grass and Guinea Pig Mix should do the job properly.

Supplement:
You can buy Supplements for your Guinea Pig.
These can be bought at Pet shops.
Chewable Flavoured Sticks are said to help the Guinea Pigs intake of Vitamin C.

See: http://www.forotherlivingthings.com/pages/6/6/

DO NOT PUT VITAMIN C IN DRINKING WATER!
DO NOT FEED MULTI VITAMINS!

More to come later...
